I grew up about a mile from Rustic Oaks along the Red River on a 70 acre "hobby farm". Our farmsteads were actually built by cousins over 100 years ago! I am one of five kiddos and I was homeschooled all the way through. This allowed flexibility and time for lots of family trips. I love traveling! I always thought I wanted to be a concert violinist. Or an interior designer. And I wasn't going to get married until I was at least 27. That was until I met a guy from New Jersey and changed my mind. Brett & I got married on the farm two months ago:)
I started shooting in high school and used the farm and my sisters' modeling to build my business. My senior year I shot other senior photos and shot my first wedding that fall. Since then I've shot over 80 weddings and many many other shoots, both commercially and for fun clients around the country.
My farm where I've never stopped shooting:) I like golden sunset light and I love that romantic and whimsical look.
Anything old, of course. And I completely love it when I see something repurposed into a functioning piece- something to use. How creative!
I shot Robby & Lauren's wedding out there in June and fell in love with the place! Reminds me so much of where I grew up. I felt at home! I would pick shooting at Rustic Oaks over a formal church wedding any day!
A creative flair with an eye for working with natural light. I'm not just with you to shoot, but to help in any way I can.. whether it's pinning on boutonnieres or tracking down the wandering flower girl:) I want you to just have fun on your wedding day!
Also, 2 months ago, I was the bride on her wedding day. I had made the decision to find the perfect photographer. I knew whose style I loved and who really "got" my plans and ideas. I trusted my photographer so much and it gave me such a peace of mind that no matter what happened on my wedding day, I'd love my photos. If my details weren't completely what I'd wanted or we forgot to hand out programs till half way through the ceremony (which happened!), I had in the back of my mind: at least my pictures will be amazing! Seriously, I can't emphasize enough the importance of a perfect fit between you and your photographer. I had the freedom to throw out any crazy idea and I knew she would build on top of it and together our ideas would form the big beautiful picture! No matter who you choose, I suggest getting to know your photographer and to bounce your ideas between each other. Collaborate together to ensure you're both on the same page and that your styles fit. You'll never ever regret your photos:) Being on "both sides" has opened my eyes to the whole planning process that goes into both ends, and it's definitely made it really fun meeting and getting to know my new brides for next season! It's given me insight to better help my clients. Now I understand when brides say "I loved my photographer" because honestly, it makes all the difference!
